Dog of the Month

August

Jack

Jack is a lovely young lurcher boy. He came in nervous but has gained weight and confidence with TLC. He went out to a home but was left too long alone. We feel he needs someone around a lot of the time and a canine friend, possibly a calm female dog, as he is a little nervous around bouncy dogs. He is very sweet and loving and will make a great family pet. This video is from when he came in a few months ago, he has filled out since then.

Update

Jack is loosing the weight he has gained as he is so unhappy in kennels, this sweet guy is not big and would love to cuddle with you on the sofa.

Our aim is to rescue as many greyhounds and lurchers as we possibly can. They make absolutely wonderful pets. They are loyal, gentle, loving couch potatoes.

There a few misconception about these fabulous dogs we would like to dispel:

They don’t need lots of exercise. Two 20 minutes walks a day is enough. However, they do appreciate longer walks so they can have a good sniff.

They can live with cats. Just as with any breed of dog, some greyhounds like them, some  don’t.

They are very good with children. Most are calm and patient and love the attention. Like any dog though, they should be supervised when around young children.

We are a non-profit organisation that relies solely on public donations and the support of our volunteers. Here is a leaflet on our work and how you can help. We don't have our own kennels so we rely heavily on foster families and private boarding kennels to house our dogs until they find their forever homes. We organise a number of events throughout the year and have regular meet and greets, which are great social events.

All our dogs come spayed, vet checked, micro chipped and vaccinated for a set adoption donation. We gladly offer continued advise and support once they have been re-homed. We will consider most family situations as potential homes and do a home check before we let a dog go out on trial. We then go through the adoption once you and the dog are completely happy.

Please take a look around the website and get in touch if you have any questions.  You could also look at this gg_adviceleaflet.pdf about what to expect if you re-home a hound.
